IC Information

Name: Mabel Pines
Age: 12
Canon: Gravity Falls
Canon Point: S2E5, “Soos and the Real Girl”
Physical Description: Mabel has long brown hair, generally held back with a headband, and brown eyes. Her rosy cheeks and near constant grin spell out her cheerful spirit. Mabel has a truly impressive collection of adorable sweaters, which she pairs with a skirt and black ballet flats. The outfit she arrives in Republic City in is a purple sweater with battery-powered multicolored lights threaded through the yarn, a pink skirt, and matching headband.
Canon Abilities: The ability to get anyone to, at some point, often under unlikely circumstances, sing karaoke while sober.
Possessions:
- A grappling hook (no, really)
- A Hundred Years of Stickertude (disclaimer: does not contain 100 years worth of stickers), tucked under her sweater in case of a Sticker Emergency. In accordance with its disclaimer, it contains about 500 stickers, none of which would look out of place on a Lisa Frank notebook.
- Saddles and Sovereigns, Book 1 - Reign of the Reins, which she picked up from the library on the same visit where Dipper got My Palms are Itchy: Poison Ivy or Puberty? A helpful guide. In this magical adventure, a girl who is secretly a princess and a pony who is also secretly a princess discover their magical destiny as the BEST OF FRIENDS!! The exclamation marks on the dust jacket are doubled, as written, and also made of pink puffy paint. Mabel has dogeared page 10 and so far gives it four out of four diamond-encrusted horseshoes.
Companion: Waddles, a small pet pig. Not a rooster-pig, or a boar-q-pine, or a moo-sow. Just a pig. Weird, right?

Personality: Mabel is a bright ray of sunshine in a cold and lonely world. I’m kidding! Really, Mabel is a bright and adaptable ray of sunshine in a world weird beyond reason. Gravity Falls, Oregon has one bizarre event after another to throw at the Pines twins, but Mabel doesn’t let them get her down. Even when her first boyfriend turns out to be several gnomes standing on each others’ shoulders, who then kidnap her to be their queen after she breaks up with them.

Mabel is all about bringing the fun and living it up. She has a wealth of silliness and enthusiasm to draw from, and she isn’t shy about expressing it wherever she goes. Mabel is up for the unusual, and expresses herself in odd ways, through her collection of eccentric sweaters, artistic projects like her famous “cat-icatures,” and occasionally using snack foods as earrings. Many people are charmed and drawn to Mabel’s un-selfconscious, cheerful eccentricity, but some conservative personalities see her weirdness as something to put down. Mabel is never without friends, though, and values the buddies in her life who are as delightfully offbeat as she is.

While her twin brother, Dipper, is a planner and a schemer, Mabel is impulsive and in-the-moment. She throws herself into whatever she sets her mind to, though, and when she focuses her energy, can produce amazing results – like a full puppet show musical in a week. Mabel’s enthusiasm for the moment means she’s able to adapt to the weirdness of Gravity Falls easily, and often tags along on her brother’s adventures in uncovering the mysteries of their summer getaway. Dipper’s intelligence and scholarly aptitude exceeds Mabel’s, but her quick-witted thinking helps get him out of trouble – about as often as it gets him into it.

Her tolerance for strange and scary events has grown, but Mabel still prefers to spend her summer having sleepovers, throwing parties, and flirting with every boy than digging up conspiracies with her brother. Sometimes she and Dipper clash over her lack of dedication to the mysteries, and his obsession with them, but at the end of each day, Mabel and Dipper are still close siblings who care about each other very much (and know all the ways to annoy each other).

Mabel is most likely to find the Four Nations and Republic City a place of absolute wonder, and be enchanted by spirits and people with cool powers. Her disinterest in finding an immediate way home is something she and her brother will clash over, though eventually Mabel will want to return to Gravity Falls as well. They’ve fought over their lack of teamwork on important, supernatural issues before, and this will not be the only thing they find to bicker over in Republic City.

OU/AU: OU

History: Mabel’s childhood in Piedmont California was fairly normal, and pretty pleasant for the charming, social Mabel, who early on mastered the art of Befriending with Stickers, and working the Halloween candy circuit with her brother and their adorable twin- costumes. Mabel, always the more charismatic twin, envied her brother’s academic aptitude slightly, as he envied her social skills, but despite their differing personalities, the siblings were and remain very close.

When their parents sent them to Gravity Falls, Oregon for the summer, thinking that a nice summer outdoors in the fresh air would be fun for the twins, Mabel looked at it as her perfect opportunity to have a real summer romance. Unfortunately, her first boyfriend turned out to be a collective of gnomes, which is not really something any other girl she knows can say. Mabel’s spirits stayed up, though, as she worked in their Grunkle Stan’s tourist trap the Mystery Shack, and made friends with fellow weird girls Candy and Grenda, kindred spirits in the delights of brightly colored artwork and fangirling hunky boybands. She developed a rivalry with local popularity queen Pacifica Northwest, which eventually came to head in a minigolf tournament on a living course, in the process addressing her concerns with maybe possibly being a little TOO silly, and coming to the conclusion that no, she was fabulous the way she was. She eventually got her summer romance, in Gravity Falls’ weird way, with a merman named Mermando who she helped escape from the community pool.

In between all this, she helped her brother solve the mysteries of Gravity Falls, which he was exploring with the assistance of a mysterious journal written by an unknown author. Their pursuit of the supernatural lead them to meet their great-uncle’s rival Li’l Gideon, Child Psychic, who took an instant fancy to Mabel. Initially Mabel wanted to be friends with Gideon and his impressive collection of sequins, but Gideon yanked her without warning out of the friendzone and into the romance zone, with a large party of onlookers cheering for their budding, one-sided relationship. Mabel felt pressured not to break up with him because he was being so nice to her, even though she wasn’t into it, so Dipper offered to break up with Gideon for her. When he did, however, Gideon took it as Dipper attempting to get between the happy couple, and showed his true, evil colors, and his powerful magical amulet. Mabel happened to show up at the right time to narrowly stop him from killing he brother, and broke up with him herself thoroughly. Like she’d ever date someone who tried to kill her brother!

Gideon didn’t take rejection well, and his continued attempts to destroy “Grunkle” Stanford Pines and the Mystery Shack and claim Mabel for his queen lead the twins (and Handyman Soos) into a battle with a demonic, evil triangle, and a later battle with Gideon’s own giant robot to reclaim the deed to the Mystery Shack. Though the twins were triumphant, evil is still afoot in Gravity Falls, and every mystery Dipper and Mabel solve bring them closer to looking it in right in its single, all-seeing eye.

OOC Information

This application is for any character who IS a part of the ATLA/LoK series.

Player: Muji
Age: 29
Characters: Tenzin

IC Information

Name: Tenzin
Age: 52
Canon: LoK
Canon Point: Late Book 1
Physical Description: Bald, with blue airbending master tattoos. Tall and angular, drawn features unless he is smiling. Obscenely pointy goatee.
Possessions: Nothing.
Companion: NA.

Personality and History: Tenzin is the youngest of three siblings, the children of Avatar Aang, the last Airbender, and Katara of the Southern Water Tribe. The oldest child is the only daughter - Kya - who was also the only Waterbender of the siblings and thusly took after their mother a great deal. The middle child is named Bumi, who never demonstrated any bending abilities at all. Then there was Tenzin - a quiet child that Bumi always tried to help ‘loosen up a bit’, but in the end was always much more at home practicing airbending with his father.

The responsibility Tenzin feels towards his Airbending abilities is massive. He wears the same Air Nomad tattoos that his father earned when he was learning bending as a child, and he was the first in over one hundred years to earn them. When he came of age, he began taking over the day-to-day management and guidance of the Air Acolytes at the newly-constructed Air Temple Island while his father focused more and more on the government of the also newly-founded Republic City. It was an arrangement that worked well for the both of them, even as Bumi went off to join the United Forces and Kya went to study.

Some fathers and sons play catch; Aang and Tenzin raced air scooters. And Tenzin, above all things, very much loved his father.

Currently Tenzin serves both as councilman (duly elected, he will point out incessantly, even though people probably voted for him only because he is his father’s son) and leader at Air Temple Island where he lives with his very pregnant wife Pema and their three children - Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo. The new Avatar, a Southern Water Tribe member named Korra, is due for her Airbending training very soon, but unrest in Republic City might prevent Tenzin from being able to move to the South Pole to train her.

Sample: Tenzin telling Bumi that Pema is pregnant with Jinora.

IC Information

Name: Dick Gumshoe
Age: 30
Canon: Ace Attorney
Physical Description: Take that!
Possessions: A metal detector, fishing rod
Companion: A police dog named Missile.

Personality:

Dick Gumshoe means well. He really does. He just happens to be as bumbling and gullible as he is optimistic and good-hearted. He can be quite absentminded, and although he is a capable detective, he often does not look at subjects with a deep perception. Thus, he can accidentally overlook glaring contradictions. He's a glutton for punishment, too. He accepts a lot of his misfortune as his lot in life, and thus he doesn't question things like certain prosecutors whipping him whenever he messes up. He finds solace in the small things, even if he considers himself to be puny. (Luckily, Gumshoe is saved from being the most unfortunate man in existence through the sheer existece of Larry Butz. Next to Butz, Gumshoe must be like the luckiest man in the world).

He is generally very friendly and plain-spoken, known for most commonly addressing others as 'pal'. Gumshoe will often stick up for those in need, and sometimes he will even defy his job itself for that purpose. He is also known for forming strong loyalties towards others, like a large dog. In canon, this is most blatantly obvious with the example of Miles Edgeworth. After Edgeworth helped clear his name from a murder accusation on their first meeting, Gumshoe became his loyal assistant beyond working for him in the normal detective-prosecutor relationship. He even cleaned his office and did what he could to help him with his personal life. Gumshoe becomes very defensive of these people he's loyal to, and this can often cause him to become blind to their flaws and to blindly set himself against anyone who opposes that person. In some cases, his loyalty is on a provisional basis, mostly as seen in the times he's helped Phoenix and Maya. Although he's risked his job to save them several times in canon, he still opposes them in the courtroom and tends to view testifying against Phoenix as a kind of testimony. Essentially, he can be a walking carpet unless you've managed to offend someone who's dear to him.

Gumshoe used to living an extremely low income life, which has helped him to nurture his sense of humble optimism. Thus, he knows how to be very thrifty, although at the same time it can be easy for him to be tricked into getting conned. It doesn't help that his blunders often result in paycuts for him, and thus he has to live off of instant noodles most of the time. In this AU, his gullibility extends through his failed attempts to become a metalbender; he keeps on falling for phoney how-to guides and other scams that apparently are supposed to develop metalebending. They result in failure, and it's usually his peers who benefit from shutting down said scams. This extends from an almost childlike innocence that Gumshoe often shows. He is known for not liking being near blood, and he seems to like his gun as a toy more than as a weapon. He can often get along with children well, but it depends; one of his worse attempts involved offering to let an 8 year old hold his gun twice. But one better attempt was simply pooling his money with a young girl to buy swiss rolls that they could share.

It's easy to make the joke of his name reflecting that he's like gum that gets stuck on your shoe. Thus, his habits and blunders can often be annoying to many. Still, there are times when he proves that he can be reliable, so it might not be so bad that one is stuck with him.

OU/AU: AU

History:

Dick Gumshoe came from humble, average beginnings in a lower class Republic City neighborhood. And thus he had a relatively average childhood, for an earthbending kid that is, just perhap with a good amount of unlucky accidents, many associated with attempts at practicing earthbending. After years of hard work and many setbacks, he finally managed to make his way onto Republic City's police force while he was in his 20s, and he only recently managed to obtain the rank of detective. He primarily is associated with homicide investigations, but his true dream is to be one of the metalbending cops. He trudges on through paycuts and other hardships in hopes of realizing that dream, no matter how many people tell him he's not capable of metalbending. He also has Earth Kingdom pride and, only knowing the Earth Queen as some distant monarch, mourned her loss.

Essentially, his life is similar to his canon life, just transplanted to a 1920sish setting and with elemental powers thrown into the mix. As a note, I do intend to be as vague as possible about specific people associated with his backstory (Edgeworth, Badd, etc.) so as to not box in any potential future applicants.

Sample:

There it is. Republic City's grand court. That's the stage where he'll be presenting his testimony later today, regarding a hidden Triple Threat triple agent. It'll be the case of the century! Maybe it'll even be the push he needs to unlock his metalbending. At least, that's what Gumshoe thinks as he stands at the foot of the court's exterior stairs, escorting Missile the police dog.

He leans over to scratch at the dog's ears. "See that, pal? This is gonna be my big chance! I'm finally gonna show them what all my hard work's come to. Maybe we'll even wind up getting more than instant noodles to eat because of this!" He raises an eyebrow as he ponders this new concept, and then he beams as he accelerates his petting. "Twice as many instant noodles. So let's do our best!"

And so, Gumshoe saunters up the stairs. Except that isn't actually Republic City's grand court. It's the probending arena. By the time he realizes it, the case will already be over, and without his testimony the prosecution suffers a humiliating defeat.

It's said that, if you listen carefully, you can hear the groan of Detective Gumshoe's latest pay cut...

Suggested Nationality: Born in Republic City, Earth Kingdom heritage.
Why?: Republic City seems like the setting that comes closest to resembling the Ace Attorney setting, and the heritage reflects how down-to-earth he can be.
Bending: Earthbending.
